Sensual and intensely feminine with a hint of dark romanticism, Lola The Vamp is a performer who will capture your imagination long after you have seen her dance.
Australia’s premier burlesque performer for a decade, yet she is so much more. Few performers have garnered such intense media attention and breathless reviews. Lola’s star has risen into the popular consciousness with regular appearances on shows like Australia’s Getaway, Today and Channel V, as well as some of the most famous photographic magazines and newspapers such as The Australian, The San Francisco Chronicle and The Scotsman.
Her short film, The Poor Slob and The Good Fairy made its debut at the Cannes Film Festival and her productions are festival headliners at venues such as The Big Day Out, Woodford Folk Festival, Spiegeltent, Edinburgh Fringe, and countless others. She has headlined the legendary Tease-O-Rama (USA) and was the first Australian to appear at the Burlesque Hall of Fame (Las Vegas).
Voted one of the eight hottest burlesque stars of all time (City Pages), she supported Nick Cave and Grinderman on their 2007 tour – something Mr Cave described as ‘intimidating’. Our Lola can certainly overwhelm, what can we say! The Age put it this way, ‘a highly developed aesthetic and a sly wit…both playful and hypnotic…super sexy without ever being tawdry, Lola is in a league of her own’
Lola’s shows are among the most extravagant in burlesque today, her Enter The Dragon show is over ten metres long and glittering in crystal, but don’t take our word for it, ‘glorious! C’est magnifique Lola!’ said Crazy Horse Paris.
Lola also possess a particularly coveted and unique title: the first performer in history to perform burlesque for her Doctorate of Philosophy. That’s a crown that is not easily earned, but one that will stay on her head for life!
